How is a HIFU Lipolysis treatment performed?

A transducer kept on the skin emits high intensity Ultrasonic waves in a conical manner. They are focused 1.5 cm below the skin causing rupture of the fat cells. The transducer is then advanced further to destroy the new layer of fat cells.

Where does the fat go once it is destroyed?The liquefied fat i.e. triglyceride and fatty acids are liberated into tissue spaces and are drained to the liver via naturally lymphatic channels and circulation. The liver metabolizes them for energy production.

The HIFUSHAPE procedure uses pulsed focused ultrasound energy which selectively target and permanently destroys fat cells in the underlying fat layers. This is different from other non-invasive body contouring treatments, which may only enhance the lymphatic system activity to increase lymphatic drainage. Those treatments may only temporarily reduce the volume of the fat cells, not destroy and reduce the number of fat cells therefore the results are temporary and maintenance treatments are required. HIFUSHAPE destroys the fat cells in the focal area and increases blood circulation and lymphatic system activity to expedite the clearance of the liquefied fat. The results are long lasting.
